Two Things to Share
I won’t be posting for a few days … call it a short sabbatical(!). So before I log off WordPress for a while, here are two unconnected things that have made me stop, think and pray.
Thing One
A minister posed as a tramp and gatecrashed his own service to teach churchgoers about “acceptance”.
The Reverend Derek Rigby donned a wig and some torn clothes and surrounded himself with lager cans and syringes in the church doorway on Sunday morning.
Most of the congregation at the Trinity Methodist Church in Prestatyn, Denbighshire, ignored the intruder.
Thing Two
Does God lie? … No … But God does ordain that lying happen as part of his judgment on the guilty. That is why the question comes up.
Dr John Piper writes about prophecy at Desiring God.
When God says, “I have deceived that prophet” (Ezekiel 14:9), he means that he can and does govern a sinful prophet’s mind so that the prophet believes a lie; but God does it in such a way that he himself is not lying. God is able to superintend a thousand circumstances and influences so that a sinful prophet will think a lie, without God himself lying or in any way compromising his perfect truthfulness.
A timely and helpful article I reckon. Recommended. Full article here.
Any sign of it yet?
The revival I mean. The one that should be well underway in my country by now. This one.
Anyone seen it?
The Big Secret
Gosh. Two posts in one day! There’s a sink full of dishes downstairs but I needed to share something else.
If you want to know why the New Testament believers were able to do so much more than you or I seem to be able to achieve today you need to…
Send me a donation of any amount to seed into the revival that’s about to sweep <insert name of your country/town/church here>.
No.
Be with us at <insert name of large concert venue here> on <insert dates> to experience the impartation of the Holy Spirit you need before you can be an effective believer.
No.
None of those things. Really. None of those things. Unless you have time and money to waste. Which you don’t.
Just read this…
“His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.” 2 Peter 1:3
We have everything we need!!
Maybe this verse can help us see why the early Christians achieved so much. They knew Jesus had done it all and provided everything they needed. Maybe we’re achieving so little because we are being persuaded that we need more. And who would want us to think that?
Read a much better post on the subject here.
So be joyful – we have been given everything we need in Christ Jesus. You can save yourself a plane ticket to Florida for a start!!
Now, where’s that washing-up brush?
Jesus – Live On Stage
Mr Bentley, reading a prophecy supposedly given to Wendy (?Wendy Alec, founder of GOD tv) says…
“on the 8th of June, Jesus says I am coming in person tomorrow night in the clouds in a chariot surrounded by the angelic host to visit the Lakeland revival, to set foot upon the stage in divine personal one to one visitation”
It’s interesting to note that Todd then back-pedals and has to explain that it doesn’t mean that Jesus will appear in person – maybe Todd knows He might get picked up on that. Because the Bible says…
For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect—if that were possible. See, I have told you ahead of time. “So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the desert,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here he is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. Matthew 24:24-26
But the actual prophecy, the bit that Todd reads from the paper, the part that is supposed to be Jesus speaking says, “…I will set foot upon the stage”. That’s physical.
So…
Todd says that Wendy says that Jesus says he will set foot on the stage on Saturday 8th June.
The Bible says that is a disception and a false prophecy and to be avoided by believers in Jesus Christ. So who was lying? Todd? Wendy? Jesus?
I am staggered by the brazen nature of these men and women, and weep at how easily people are led astray.
Unless of course there is any proof that Jesus did actually stand on the stage on June 8th. After all, that’s nearly a month ago now. Shouldn’t we have seen it on the news?
